This class will provide historical context to the trends and issues that fueled the Twin Cities region's suburban growth following World War II and that have reshaped the core cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul from the mid-20th century to the present. Attendees will learn about Urban Renewal and "white flight," the construction of freeways, the establishment of historic districts, and the return to the walking city. Providing historical context, as well as examples of housing styles and architectural details, this class will help you better understand the built fabric of the Twin Cities and its inner-ring suburbs.
This class is taught by art & architectural historian Kristin Anderson and Rethos Policy Director Erin Hanafin Berg.
Brought to you by Rethos: Places Reimagined, this course has been approved by the Minnesota Commissioner of Commerce for 2 hours of real estate continuing education. It is open to all.
