Giving context to the houses and neighborhoods that comprise the area, this class will orient attendees to the neighborhoods and architectural stylesof the Twin Cities. The class will explore the historical trends that influenced the establishment of St. Paul and Minneapolis as independent cities. We’ll examine how private developers, business interests, public policies, and popular trends created the mosaic of residential neighborhoods and commercial districts that gave form and character to the Twin Cities in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
