Building for Beer: The Landscape and Architecture of Brewing in the Twin Cities

  • Rochester Community and Technical College 'Learning is ForEver' program (webinar) (map)

Minnesota’s brewing industry got its start in the years before statehood. In those times and ever since, brewers and consumers have developed and then relied on a number of distinctive spaces for making and drinking beer. Our well-known historic breweries—Hamm, Schmidt, and Grain Belt—are still important parts of the urban landscape. This course considers the breweries before and after those remarkable structures, as well as other buildings and spaces essential to Twin Cities beer culture, past and present.
